Caredact for care homes
Let your care home use AI without a resident’s details ever leaving the building.
Care plans, daily notes, incident and safeguarding reports, family updates, referrals to the GP. A care home writes constantly about people whose health information is the most protected category of personal data there is.
Caredact removes residents’ names, NHS numbers, medications and other identifiers before the text reaches the AI, shows the writer what it found, and restores everything in the exported document.
14-day trial. No card. Data stays in the UK.
What is in your records
The identifiers Caredact removes before the AI sees a word.
Each one becomes a labelled placeholder such as [PERSON_1] or [NHS_NUMBER_1]. The writer sees every detection highlighted before anything is sent.
- Residents, relatives and staffnames, room numbers, next of kin
- NHS numbersin any of the formats they are written
- Medication and conditionsdrug names, doses, diagnoses
- GPs, hospitals and clinicsnamed practices and consultants
- Dates of birth and admission datesand dates that identify an incident
- Addresses and phone numbersthe home, family contacts
Where it fits
Three jobs it does on day one.
- 1
Care plan reviews
Update a plan from your notes with AI help. The AI works on a resident described by placeholders; the plan you file has the real details.
- 2
Incident and safeguarding reports
Write a clear, factual account quickly, structured the way your provider and the local authority expect, without the resident’s identity leaving your control.
- 3
Family updates and GP referrals
Draft a letter or an email in plain language, then export it with names restored. Only the checked, placeholder version went to the AI.
For your regulator and your DPO
What you can show an inspector.
- A log of every action for the registered manager and for inspection.
- A review step before anything is sent: the care worker checks, then sends.
- A Data Processing Agreement with the provider, ready for your DPO or IG lead.
- UK processing and storage, with placeholder maps deleted when a document is finished.
We use a digital care records system. Does Caredact connect to it?
Caredact works alongside it, not inside it. Paste text in, work with the AI, and export the finished document to record wherever you record today. No integration project, no data sync.
Does it recognise medication names?
Yes. Medication names are one of the care-specific categories Caredact was built to detect, alongside NHS numbers and named health services, because a medication list can identify a person as surely as a name.
Is this only for England?
CQC regulates in England; the tool works the same for providers regulated by Care Inspectorate Wales, the Care Inspectorate in Scotland and RQIA in Northern Ireland. Data protection law is UK-wide.
