Intended Use Statement
Caredact — operated by PixelArc Ventures LTD
Last updated: 29 October 2026 (version 2026-10-29)
This is a plain-English summary of what Caredact is for and who is responsible for what. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
What Caredact is for
- Finding and hiding personal details in text and documents, for example when preparing records for a subject access request
- Drafting, rewriting and summarising care documents, using AI on the anonymised version of the text
- Checking visit notes and flagging possible concerns and recording gaps for a manager to look at
It is a writing and redaction aid. Everything it produces is a draft, and it can miss, add or change details, including medication, doses, dates, names and information about risk.
What it must not be used for
- As a medical device, or for clinical, care or safeguarding decisions
- In an emergency
- As your care record system, or as your safeguarding or incident-reporting system
- As the only check before you disclose a document or act on information
- By anyone who hasn't been trained to use it
Who is responsible for what
| Who | Responsible for |
|---|---|
| PixelArc Ventures (Caredact) | Providing the service with reasonable skill and care, keeping data secure and in the UK, processing personal data only on your instructions, and telling you about any data breach |
| Your organisation | Training and supervising staff, using Caredact only as described here, keeping your own care records, safeguarding and escalation procedures, making care decisions, holding your own insurance, and having a lawful basis for the data you enter |
| Each member of staff | Checking every output against the original before copying, exporting, relying on it or adding it to a care record. The person who checks it is responsible for what goes out |
Note checks
A flag is a prompt for a competent person to look at the note. It isn't a risk assessment. No flag doesn't mean no risk, and doesn't mean a record is complete. Act on any concern through your own safeguarding and escalation procedures, whatever Caredact shows.
Redaction
Caredact won't always find every personal detail. Check redacted documents before you disclose them.
If something goes wrong
If Caredact produces something wrong or unsafe, stop using that output, follow your own procedures, and tell us at hello@caredact.com. If Caredact is unavailable, carry on with your normal processes: nothing about your care should depend on it.
